Impressive, dangling clip-on earrings from the 20th century, crafted from 18-karat gold, with a total weight of 17.75 g. The richly detailed and highly expressive composition combines two intensely pinkish-red rubies with 58 diamonds in three different cuts, with a combined weight of approximately 7.00 ct.
The central element of each earring is a large, oval cabochon-cut ruby. The two rubies have a combined weight of approximately 6.00 ct. Their intense pinkish-red colour creates a striking contrast with the brilliance of the diamonds and the warm tone of the 18-karat gold. Each ruby is surrounded by an elaborate arrangement of diamonds in different shapes, creating a decorative, almost floral rosette.
The articulated lower section features large, open hoops composed alternately of brilliant-cut and marquise-cut diamonds. The hinged connection to the upper section gives the earrings a sense of lightness and allows them to move naturally when worn, further enhancing the play of light across the gemstones.
